If you helped with the show or brought a car to the show and have not gotten a t-shirt yet please let me know and I will get one to you.

The top 20 awards made by Trace Benson were very popular and everyone really liked them. Also Harry did a great job on the snowmobile awards and Darryl and Mike did great on the motorcycle trophy.

REMEMBERING ROGER AND GLEN
As many of you know, this past month we lost two of our car club friends.

In the first part of January, Glen Victor, Bart Victor's father, passed away after battling a heart issue. Many of you will remember him from the Charcoal Burger cruise nights. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He was very proud of his Olds convertible and is featured in our new calendar with some of the cruisers friends. He will be missed, however he will always be cruising with us in spirit. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bart and Jennifer and their families.

Toward the end of January we lost Roger Bishop. He passed away in Grand Junction. As many of you know Roger is one of our founding members and has been a long time supporter of our club. He was a true car guy and always loved the old cars. He was instrumental in the beginning of the Valley Cruisers Car Shows in Carbondale. Many of the new members may not have had the chance to know Roger as he unfortunately had to move to Grand Junction a number of years ago due to health issues. But we always kept in touch and a number of the club members met with him for breakfast last March. We all had a great time visiting with him at that time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Julie and Warren and their families. Roger will be missed but we know Roger will also always be cruising with us in spirit.

May they rest in peace and God Bless them and their families.

VAUDEVILLE
I want to let you know we are looking for a good date for the Vaudeville in Glenwood. It looks like we are going to be right at the end of February or the first part of March. I will let you know all the details when I have them, but for now wanted you to be thinking about that.

OUR CAR SHOW
As of this time, we are planning our car show in Glenwood to take place July 29 and 30.

We need to be getting all of our sponsors in place within the next month-and-a-half in order to make sure they get on the flyers and t-shirts. Please contact your sponsors to see if they are going to be a part of this show and also contact any new sponsors you can. Our large sponsors have normally been at $500.00, our middle sponsors are at $250.00, and our small sponsors are anything less than $250.00.

We also need donations for door prizes from local businesses.

We also need new ideas for the top 20 awards and also the major awards. Please let me know if you have any ideas at all about the awards, sponsors, or any other phase of the show. We will be discussing the show at the next meeting so bring your ideas to the meeting if you can. If not, get them to me.

It seems as though winter has decided to stay awhile, but have no fear, sooner than you know it will be time for cruising to Moab to start the year. Hopefully the weather there will be good.

AUGUST 2015
by Ron Madsen
email: valleycruisers@sopris.net

NEXT MEETING
We will not meet in August since the show is over, there is not much to discuss. We can take care of what little business we have at the cruise nights.

CHARCOAL BURGER CRUISE NIGHTS
The next cruise night will be Friday, August 7 and August 21, also Sept. 4 and 18.

OUR CAR SHOW
Our car show has come and gone and generally was a success. While we did not have quite as many cars as last year, we did have approximately 75 to 80 cars on display and quite a number of vintage snowmobiles, as well. The weather was great, probably one of the best days of the year. We actually stayed dry!

I want to thank all of the members who helped in the preparation for the show as well as the day of the show and also those who brought a car to the show. Without cars on display there is no show.

Thanks to Cathy Queen and the members who helped register all of the participants and who counted the votes.

As always our members came through in a big way, helping in all aspects of the show. It is only with the participation of the members that the car show can be a success, and our members certainly made the show a success.

Also a huge thank you to Bart Victor for all the food and all the work and money he put towards the show.

As we end this year's show, we are beginning to think about next year and what we need to do to improve it. Please let me know if you have any ideas. We want to continue to improve on the show.

GYPSUM CAR SHOW
The Gypsum car show was a huge success, with over 100 cars on display. Steve and Christy Carver are to be thanked and commended for such a great show.

Congratulations to Vonda, Roy and Lorraine, Rich and Shelly, Bob DeHerrera, Harry and Lori, and Glenn Victor. All won top 20 awards.

Also congratulations to Lori, Dawn, and Chris. They split the award for their 1950's attire.

Our club had a good showing at the show and we thank all who attended.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHRISTY
Christy Carver won a top 20 award at our car show, this was the first time she had shown her new car, a 1963 Plymouth Valiant convertible just completed, it is great for her to win the first award at our show.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN
John Sowieja and his 1958 Ford pick-up won Participants' Choice Award at our show. Great job.

NEW MEMBERS
We want to welcome new member Lori Strong. She is from Glenwood and has a 2013 Mustang GT convertible. We hope she will be able to join in the activities during the year. We hope she will enjoy her membership in the club.

We also want to welcome new member John Howerth of Carbondale. He has a 1965 Pontiac Le Mans convertible. He signed up at our show and also happened to win the Peoples' Choice award. He donated the award money back to the club. We want to thank him for that and hope he will become involved in our activities and enjoy his membership in the club.

GARFIELD COUNTY FAIR CAR SHOW IS SATURDAY AUGUST 8
Please remember the car show starts after the parade, usually around 11:30 am to noon. It is at the Metro park in Rifle. It is always a good time and it would be great to have a good showing of club cars there.

FOR SALE
23 T Roadster 350, Chevy engine, 325 hp, too many features to list, all road ready and done. If interested I have the complete list of features, contact me to get them. Call Gary at 402-670-8874. I also have pictures.

Mike Duffy is going to buy all the door prizes for the show and he also is providing the tent for the registration as he did last year.

We will park all of the Valley Cruisers cars together near the Glenwood insurance company and will have our banner in front of them., so everyone knows who is in the club.

A BIG THANK YOU TO BIG STEVE AND CHRISTY CARVER
We can not thank Steve and Christy enough for the great time and great food they provided us in our recent cruise to their home for breakfast. We had a good number of members show up and it was a good time had by all. Again a big THANK YOU to them.

OUR CAR SHOW UPDATE
THE CAR SHOW IS JULY 24 AND 25
As the time approaches for the show we are going to be in need of members getting the posters out in their area businesses by the end of June. Many of you have already picked up your posters and thank you for your efforts. If anyone needs posters or flyers for their area please let me know and I will arrange to get them to you.

Also if you have any businesses who could contribute items to the goody bags we will need to have them by July 10. As last year we will need between 125 and 150 items for all the goody bags.

Also we are still taking $50.00 sponsor donations per top 20 awards. If you need forms for the donations please let me know as well.

The t-shirts should be ordered this week so we should be good to go by show time.

At our last meeting we decided to discount the registration for people with more than one car, the first car will be $20.00 and any after that will be $10.00 each.

At our last meeting it was decided that we would judge motorcycles separately and give out separate awards just as we are going to do for the snowmobiles. Thanks to Darryl Queen and Mike Duffy. They will handle the motorcycles awards and show.

As always all cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc are welcome.

We will have the cruise night at the Charcoal Burger the night before the show with food for all.

I would like to ask anyone who can, to contact their local newspapers to get information on the car show in the public calendar sections, if you need information for the newspapers please let me know and I will get it to you.

NEW CASTLE DINER ANNIVERSARY IS JUNE 14

I want to thank all of you who have continued with us this year. I hope you will find the time enjoyable and fun. It is because of the members that this club can exist and be successful. It is time to begin to think about our upcoming show in Glenwood. We have already gotten several of the major sponsors on board, and also some new ones with new interests. Any of you who know of a local business who might want to sponsor our show, please get with them soon as we need to know who the sponsors are going to be within the next two to three weeks in order to assure they get into the flyer, poster, and on the tshirts.

The dates are July 24 and 25 and we are going to have a Friday night BBQ at the Charcoal Burger. The show will again be at the Glenwood Springs High School.

Harry is organizing a group of antique snowmobiles to be on display as well this year so that should add a new dimension to the show.

If any of you know of other shows that are coming up early in the season please let me know as I am now compiling the 2015 schedule of shows and events.
