AUGUST 2014

NEXT MEETING

Our next meeting will be August 20. We will go over the car show ideas what worked and what did not do so well. We will meet at the Zancanella Offices in Glenwood.

NEXT SUNDAY MORNING BREAKFAST AUG. 17

Our next breakfast will be at the Elk Creek Mining Co. in New Castle. It will be Sunday August 17 and we will meet at 10:00 a.m. Hope you can make it.

OUR CAR SHOW A SUCCESS

It appears that our car show location at the High School was a big success with most who attended.  We had no issues with the City and no traffic problems. Our only problem is we almost ran out of room. We registered just under 90 cars and had about 12 from the club that were non-voted display cars.

I want to thank everyone who helped in this effort. It is only because of you, the members, that we can pull off a show of this type and have it go well.

A big part of our success was the registration of the vehicles. To everyone who helped in this area, a very big thank you. It went very well.

I believe that we can probably count on the High School again for next year, we left the area very clean and neat.

I have not heard any bad feedback from anyone so far.

If you were at the show and did not get a t-shirt please let me know so I can get you one.

Also a BIG thanks to Bart and the Charcoal Burger, they provided all of the food for the car show kick off cruise. As usual he went over and above. Thanks again.

Congratulations to Richard and Vicky Nash, their 1957 Thunderbird with the 1961 Shasta travel trailer won Ladies’ Choice Award.

UPCOMING CHARCOAL BURGER CRUISES

The next Charcoal Burger cruise nights are scheduled for August 8 and August 22.  Hope you can make it.

GYPSUM CAR SHOW WINNERS

Several of our club members won awards and prizes at the recent Gypsum Car Show.  The show was a huge success and a big thanks to Steve and Christy Carver for making it happen.  They had over 100 cars for the show!!

Congratulations to Harry and Lori, their Nova won the Enterprise newspaper award.  Cliff won a top 20 with his 66 Mustang, and Cecil and Betty took a Top 20, and also won one of the major prizes, a BBQ grille. Way to go!

LOCAL CAR SHOWS COMING UP

There are several show coming up this month in our immediate area.

August 9 is the Garfield County Fair Car show in Rifle which starts at noon at Metro Park

August 16 is the Parks Industries Show in Rifle.

Sept. 5-7  Wheels and Wings Show in Gypsum

Sept. 13  Glenwood Springs Ford Show

So as you can see there is still a lot of chance to get out and enjoy the cars.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

We have several new members we want to welcome to the club:

Matt Stinson and his family have attended several cruise nights and attended the Breakfast cruise to the Gpysum Golf Course.

John and Dana Jenick from New Castle have several cars and also attended our show and won some awards.

We hope they will continue to participate and cruise with us.

That is it for now. The summer is winding down but there are still plenty of activities to keep you busy.

Please let me know if you have any information on anything the members would like to know and I will get it out to them.

JULY 2014

NEXT MEETING
Our next meeting will be July 16 at the Route 6 Grillhouse in Glenwood.  You may eat dinner or just come to the meeting. We will start the meeting at 7 p.m.  At this meeting we are going to stuff the goody bags so if you have anything to put in the bags we need it by then.

A BIG THANKS TO BIG STEVE AND THE GYPSUM CREEK GOLF COURSE FOR OUR BREAKFAST CRUISE JUNE 28
We had a great turn out for the cruise and several car guys from the Gypsum side were able to join us as well.  The weather was perfect and Big Steve did a fantastic job of putting it all together.  I hope the people who went did enjoy themselves.

CAR SHOW UPDATE
It is hard to believe that the show is now just around the corner.  Most everything is in place or being worked on as we speak.

It is still not too late to put posters up in your area. If you would like some, please let me know and I will get some to you.  We can still use items to place in the goody bags so if you know of any please let me know.

We are getting more and more registrations in the mail, so things are looking good.

As always we will need members to help with parking the cars and registration, so if you can help please let me know.

We are asking each member to place at least one poster in his or her area so we can get the word out.  If each of us does a little it will get done much easier and quicker.  Please let me know how many posters or flyers you may need and I will make arrangements to get them to you.

CHARCOAL BURGER CRUISE NIGHTS
The next cruise night will be July 11 and again on July 25, our car show cruise. Bart has always gone over and above providing food and a great time to cruise the cars and drive them.  Part of the cruise night fun is the cruising of the cars after we eat so I hope you will come prepared to cruise after eating.

CONGRATULATIONS TO VONDA, CLIFF AND BIG STEVE
Vonda Williams' Mustang took Best of Show at the Basalt car show last month.

At the past car show in Craig, Cliff won best under construction vehicle, and Big Steve won best truck.  Way to go.

GYPSUM CAR SHOW IS JULY 19
The Car Show in Gypsum is coming up this month.  We usually try to cruise over together, if anyone is interested in doing this please let me know.  Big Steve always puts on a great show so I hope many of you can go.  See registration form under EVENTS

Cindi Seifert who is a member of our club is setting this up and told me all who bring cars will get free food at the event. As I sent out information on this some of you have contacted her and myself about coming. It will not be a very long time and should be alot of fun. I urge as many of you as can to go. It will be a good time. PLEASE REMEMBER YOU MUST LET CINDI KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING SO SHE CAN PLAN ON THE NUMBER, CALL HER AT 970-384-6916.

They will set up a complete breakfast buffet and the cost will be only $8.00 per person, this includes everything but tip. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE GOING ON OR BEFORE THURSDAY JUNE 26 SO THEY CAN PLAN FOR THE NUMBER COMING. Also if you are getting items for the goody bags please have them available to us by July 1. If you have door prizes please get them to us as well.

As in the past we will need help in registration and parking of the cars so if you can help please let me know.

Thanks for your help in advance.

CHARCOAL BURGER CRUISE NIGHTS
The cruise nights at the Charcoal Burger have started and so far the attendance has been great. There is always good food and cool cars and great people.

Also please come prepared to cruise with the group after the meal. So far very few people have gone on the cruises and that is one of the fun parts of the night. As always Bart has gone over and above in presenting this opportunity for us to get the cars out and drive them. Hopefully the weather will improve so it will be better for driving the old cars on a cruise. Thanks to all who have made it a great success so far. Remember there are many more coming.

NEW CASTLE DINER ANNIVERSARY IS SUNDAY, JUNE 29
The New Castle Diner is again doing its annual getogether on Sunday, June 29 starting at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cars will be on display, there will be live music and there will be food available.
